Horse racing betting at Fitzdares
You can bet on Horse racing at Fitzdares on our iPhone betting app, our website, by text or by phone. We offer betting on all UK and Ireland racing as well as South Africa and America. The UK and Irish calender is our most popular and split into two.
From November to April we tend to concentrate on National Hunt Racing and May to October Flat Facing. National Hunt racing is where horse jump fences and hurdles. The whole season tends to build towards the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals in March and April. The current National Hunt Champion Trainer is Paul Nicholls and he has been crowned that 11 times and the current Champion Jockey Richard Johnson (won it 4 times)
Flat Racing is a bit different as the main focus of it is the five classics. These consist of the 2000 Guineas and the 1000 Guineas in May, The Derby and The Oaks in June and finally the St Leger in September. Only 3 year olds are allowed to run in these races. The 1000 Guineas and Oaks are for fillies while the 2000 Guineas and The Derby for colts. The St Leger either sex can run. If a horse wins all 3 races open to them, this is called the Triple Crown. The last horse to do that was Nijinsky in 1970. The most recent horse to come near to doing it was Camelot in 2012 who won the first two races but just failed in the St Leger by ¾ of a length.
In America, their Triple Crown consists of 3 races also: The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness Stakes and finally the Belmont Stakes. The last horse to complete that was Justify on 2018 trained by Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert and ridden by Mike Smith.
